Perfumes that are perfect for every day – these are LIGHT AND BRIGHT, YET DISTINCTIVE. And they are tried and tested for office wear so rest assured you won’t OVERPOWER YOUR COLLEAGUES and leave them gasping for air
Cologne is perfect for daytime and our current office favourite is Pomelo by (1.) JO LOVES, which is perfectly bright and refreshing enough to spritz generously and inspire a buzz of interest… A real treat (if payday has been good to you) is (2.) FREDÉRIC MALLE’s Cologne Indélébile, an intense cologne that’s longer-lasting yet still utterly uplifting and engaging.
The new (3.) HERMES, Eau Neroli, in the most beautiful tall bottle, is also magnificent; either dab on or use the spray attachment – it’s literally impossible to wear too much. This is one of the last scents that legendary perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena will create for Hermès, so think of it as investing in a collector’s item, as well as a bit of undeniable luxury for the office.
The six scents in (4.) JO MALONE LONDON’s new Garden Collection are perfectly light and lovely, and bring a bit of the outside in – perfect if you’re stuck in a stuffy office. How nice to breathe in Lavender & Coriander instead of your colleagues’ microwaved soup.
Consider a scented body cream or oil for a subtle yet lasting hint of perfume: (5.) PRISMOLOGIE’s White Beginning Rich Body Cream, with its lingering neroli scent, or the Oud and Sapphire Massage Candle, which is a two-for-one buy – burn it first and fill the room with its beautiful oud, then use a little of the coconut-oil rich melted scent on the backs of your hands to moisturise.
Another good idea is hair mist, a bit of a trend in beauty at the moment, with (6.) VIKTOR & ROLF’s BonBon and (7.) CHANEL’s Chance Eau Vive standing out. Lighter than eau de parfum, and more affordable, hair perfumes generally come in smaller bottles so are a good choice for travelling, too.
Finally, try to avoid musk-based, vanilla-rich scents – not everyone adores them and they tend to linger relentlessly and are very hard to ignore.
And for stashing under your desk to take you from desk to dinner? We recommend (8.) GIORGIO ARMANI Sì Rose Signature – it’s strong, sultry and rich, an eau de parfum to change your mood – or (9.) YSL’s coffee-fuelled spicy floral Black Opium Nuit Blanche.
