Samantha Cameron Shares her Workwear Essentials

Designer of fashion label Cefinn, Samantha Cameron talks go-to style, gadgets and tips for success …

KEY ITEM … The Daria Dress in cobalt from our AW19 collection. It’s elegant and so easy to wear either with trainers or with a pair of heels for the evening. GO-TO STYLE … Anything that you can put in the wash! I’m always on the go so I have one or two staple dresses (including the Isabel Dress) that I wear and wash again and again. The core collection is machine-washable and crease-resistant, with more than half the pieces made from Cefinn’s signature “techni voile” fabric, which you can throw in the washing machine, hang up to dry and step into in the morning looking effortlessly polished. No dry-cleaning, no ironing, no stress.

LIFE SAVER … Our new Sullivan Coat. For me a coat is key, it pulls a look together instantly making you feel elegant and ready to go. ACCESSORIES … My Smythson Panama East West Tote and my Panama Folded Cross Body Bag, both go everywhere with me. DIARY … A faithful leather-bound Smythson Soho Diary. I’ve started to collect them; I get a new colour each year with my initials (so it doesn’t go walkabout!) and I’ve kept each one. GADGET … My Apple MacBook Pro in the largest size as I am always looking at visuals. SHOES … A pair of tan wedges, old favourites of mine by Vanessa Seward which I can wear with everything. PEN … I always write in pencil; I tend to keep a stack of the non-stop mechanical ones in my bag.

STYLE ICONS … Katherine Hepburn, Julianne Moore and Debbie Harry. BIGGEST CHALLENGE … Getting through the first year of a start-up. It’s been a big learning curve for all of us and we’ve still got a way to go but it’s been exciting watching the brand grow. POWERFUL PIECE OF ADVICE … Get out of the office and ask for advice, people are always very generous. TIP FOR SUCCESS … Be polite and kind, don’t be scared to fail and constantly challenge yourself.
