FASHION TECH LAB will fund, connect and develop cutting-edge technologies and apply them to the FASHION INDUSTRY …
While you may recognise Miroslava Duma from street-style and front row shots at fashion week, the Russian style maven is making waves in the worlds of digital media and e-commerce, and is now getting involved with fashion technology too. Duma, with her finger firmly on the pulse, previously founded online fashion and lifestyle platform Buro 24/7 as well as The Tot, an information site and online store for mothers, and has now branched into investment and development with her latest venture Fashion Tech Lab.
Business of Fashion reports that this new venture will fund, connect and develop cutting-edge technologies and companies to introduce and commercialise new technologies and sustainable innovation for the fashion industry. Fashion Tech Lab has $50 million ready to invest, secured from private and institutional investors. Duma, who has previously invested in fashion companies such as Finery, Reformation and RewardStyle will be looking towards companies with a focus on sustainability. She also aims to connect previously unrelated creative technologies with the fashion industry in order for the industry to become more innovative; wearable tech, biotech, nanotechnology and high-performance fabrics will all be key focuses.
